Description

There is a particular joy in the weight of a jhumka that swings just so. Rooted in the living vocabulary of Rajasthani brass work, these earrings open with a domed, lotus-shaped top plate set with small seed pearls, their soft, milky lustre catching light the way Jaipur craftsmen have long understood it should: quietly, without competition. Beneath the dome, the classic jhumka bell drops into a cluster of suspended blue bead strands, each bead a cool, lapis-adjacent tone that gives the piece its particular freshness. Brass, the favoured base metal of the subcontinental folk jewellery tradition, is finished here with a warm antique gilding that lets the blue and pearl tones breathe rather than compete. Measuring approximately 15.5 cm in height and 2.5 cm in width, and weighing 50 grams, these are earrings with genuine presence and a satisfying swing. Pair them with a handloom cotton kurta in ivory or deep indigo for a Saturday market or a festival lunch; the blue drops will echo block-print motifs effortlessly. For a wedding house event, let them work against a silk tissue dupatta in gold or teal. Free-size hook closures make them straightforward to wear across an afternoon and into the evening without fatigue. The antique brass body is robust enough for regular use, and the bead drops are threaded to move with the earring rather than against it, which means they hold their form through a full day of wear.
