Description
There are silhouettes that do not merely adorn but announce a bride. This choker set belongs to the Kundan tradition of Jaipur, where foiled glass stones are set flat against a gold-toned brass base, each piece pressed and burnished by hand into floral and foliate forms that catch candlelight from every angle. The choker stretches nearly fourteen centimetres wide and just over eight centimetres in length, a broad ceremonial bib designed to sit flush against the collarbone and command the neckline entirely. Baroque freshwater pearl drops hang from the lower register, their soft lustre offering a counterpoint to the hard brilliance of the Kundan settings above. The earrings, measuring roughly nine centimetres in height and just over three centimetres wide, mirror the same pearl-drop conclusion. The maang tikka, running a little over fifteen centimetres in length, carries the motif upward to the centre parting, completing a unified bridal grammar across forehead, ear and throat. The full set weighs two hundred and forty grams, a presence that is felt as much as seen. Wear this set with a deep-toned silk Benarasi or a hand-embroidered Lehenga in ivory or crimson. It is equally at home against the restrained drape of a Kanjeevaram saree at a mehendi or sangeet. The brass base keeps the set lightweight relative to its scale. The choker is adjustable at the back, fitting most necklines with ease. The finish is built for long ceremonial wear without discomfort.
