Goddess Lakshmi presides at the centre of this triple-strand necklace, her form rendered in sterling silver with the kind of patient, relief-like detailing that recalls the votive jewellery traditions of South Indian temple craft. Three rows of cream freshwater pearls radiate outward from a front end that falls thirteen inches (approximately 33 cm) from the collarbone, each strand weighted with intention rather than excess. The semi-precious stones set into the silver add measured colour, catching light the way inlaid work does in the old Nagercoil and Tamil temple-jewellery traditions, where devotional imagery was never decorative alone but always meaningful. The matched drop earrings, standing two and three-quarter inches (approximately 7 cm) tall and just under an inch (approximately 2.2 cm) wide, carry the same Lakshmi motif in miniature.
