Description

There are flowers that bloom only in silver, and this is one of them. At the centre of this necklace sits a pear-cut tanzanite of deep violet-blue, cradled within a floral cluster of sterling silver petals. The surrounding bloom is worked in an interlaced pattern, a technique of silver-on-silver weaving that echoes the filigree traditions of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, where artisans have long coaxed flat metal into forms of extraordinary delicacy. The tanzanite, with its characteristic shift from blue to violet depending on the light, becomes the living heart of the motif. At roughly ten and a half grams, the piece carries perceptible weight without heaviness, and the sterling silver has been finished to a clean, cool lustre that lets both stone and setting hold their own. The chain extends to ten inches, approximately twenty-five centimetres, resting precisely at the collarbone. Wear this with a silk organza blouse in ivory or charcoal for an evening of understated formality. It reads equally well against a fine merino roll-neck for a winter afternoon meeting, where the tanzanite's violet draws quietly against neutral wool. Offered in free size with a standard chain length of ten inches, the necklace suits most necklines without adjustment. The sterling silver construction is durable enough for regular wear and requires only a soft cloth to restore its brightness between outings.
