Description

Kona jasper carries the earth's autobiography in every oval. The stone itself tells the story before the silversmith begins. Kona jasper, with its warm interplay of terracotta, cream and ochre, belongs to a lineage of semi-precious stones long favoured by Indian jewellers for their quiet, almost meditative depth. Here, each oval cabochon is held in a gold-plated sterling silver bezel, a setting tradition as honest as it is elegant: the metal wraps the stone like a frame around a miniature landscape, letting the jasper's natural patterning remain the sole ornament. The gold plating lends a warmth consistent with South Indian and Rajasthani semi-precious traditions, where uncut stones and polished metals have long spoken a shared language. At 1.55 inches in height and 0.45 inches in width (roughly 3.9 cm by 1.1 cm), the drop is considered without being timid, and the 7.5-gram weight rests with gentle intention at the ear. Wear these with a handwoven cotton or linen kurta for an afternoon that moves between the scholarly and the beautiful. They are equally at ease alongside a silk sari in muted earth tones, where the jasper mirrors the warp and the weft. The simple hook closure means there is nothing to fumble with and nothing to lose. Gold-plated sterling silver is kinder to sensitive ears than base metals, and the bezel setting protects the stone's edge through daily movement, making this a piece chosen for every unhurried morning.
