Description

There is a particular green that belongs to Rajasthan alone, the green of lacquered bazaars and palace interiors, and this set carries it at its very heart. Each piece in this necklace, earring and maang tikka set is built on a copper base worked in the polki tradition, where uncut, foil-backed stones are set flat within raised bezels rather than faceted and lifted. Here, those stones are oval-cut polki in a deep, saturated green, framed by smaller surrounding stones that give each unit the dense, saturated quality that Jaipur ateliers have long understood as ornamental weight rather than excess. The copper beneath warms the palette rather than cooling it, lending the whole set an antique depth that silver would never provide. The necklace travels on an adjustable dori, a choice that preserves the traditional spirit of the piece and allows it to sit at different necklines. The total set weighs 173 grams, substantial enough to confirm its presence, light enough to wear through a long evening. Pair it with a deep wine Benarasi tissue saree for a wedding reception where you want colour to speak before fabric does.
