Description

There is a particular quietness to green, the colour courts know best. Oval-cut green stones sit within a succession of Kundan-set links, each stone pressed into its gold-toned brass bezel with the patience that defines this Rajasthani craft. Kundan work asks that the karigar build a foil-backed setting around every stone, layering refined metal until the gem appears to float within a frame of continuous light. Here, that discipline is applied to brass, giving the bracelet warmth without the weight of heavier metals. The links connect in a clean, articulated chain, measured at approximately 18.9 cm in length and just 1.3 cm in width, and the whole piece rests at a considered 25 grams on the wrist. The green stones carry the depth of old Mughal palette, restrained rather than festive, jewellery that speaks before the wearer does. For a summer wedding, layer it against ivory silk or raw chanderi with a single gold bangle beside it. For daily wear, it sits with equal ease against a khadi kurta or a fine cotton salwar in cream or sage, the stones reading as colour without demanding ceremony. The free-size fit and push-in or box-style clasp make it simple to wear through a long afternoon or evening. Brass, when handled with care and stored away from moisture, keeps its lustre well, and the Kundan setting holds the stones securely in everyday wear.
