Description

There are bangles, and then there are bangles that carry a small world inside them. These openable Kundan Meenakari bangles belong to the living tradition of Jaipur's goldsmiths, where brass forms the architectural spine beneath layers of coloured enamel and foil-set stones. The Meenakari work here follows the Rajasthani school: enamel fired in jewel tones, pooling between fine partitions of raised metal in a vocabulary of florals and geometric fills. Kundan setting, in which a sheet of refined foil presses each stone into place without prongs, gives the face of each bangle its particular luminosity. The suspended jhumka drops are the piece's most theatrical gesture, small hanging pendants that move with the wrist and catch light from below. The pair weighs a substantial 120 grams together, and is offered in sizes 2.2 and 2.4, with a hinged-clasp opening that makes wearing effortless. For a festive Anarkali or a Kanjeevaram silk saree at a wedding mehendi, these bangles bring exactly the right weight of colour and movement. They are equally at home paired with a tobacco-brown cotton kurta set for a Dussehra gathering where understatement is not required. The hinged-clasp closure means no forcing over the knuckle and no risk of the enamel chipping at the edge. At 120 grams the pair sits with authority on the wrist without feeling burdensome, and the brass base ensures the colour of the Meenakari remains true season after season.
