Description

There are coins, and then there are coins that carry whole civilisations on their face. This necklace is built around a genuine Oman 50 Baisa coin, set at centre as both talisman and centrepiece. The coin's Arabic script and geometric motifs speak to centuries of Gulf trade that once threaded through Indian port cities, binding Rajasthani merchants to Muscat as surely as any silk road. Flanking the coin, a cascade of leaf-shaped drops in warm gold-tone brass repeat the organic forms found in traditional bazuband and guttapusalu jewellery traditions: the leaf as motif of abundance, rendered here in pressed and finished brass with a satisfying weight. At 103 grammes, the necklace sits with gravitas rather than delicacy. The chain measures 15.5 inches (approximately 39.4 centimetres) and the front pendant drop falls 6.5 inches (approximately 16.5 centimetres), giving the piece a long, editorial silhouette. Pair it with an ivory or ecru handloom kurta for a relaxed cultural gathering, letting the coin read as a conversation piece against plain weave. For festive evenings, layer it over a deep burgundy or forest-green silk blouse to contrast the brass's amber warmth. Offered in free size with standard chain length, this piece suits most necklines without adjustment. Brass, when worn and stored with care, develops a gentle patina over time; a soft dry cloth after each wear maintains its gold-tone lustre.
