Description

There are prayers that do not wait for a temple threshold. The Om Namah Shivay Rakhi is a devotional pendant in polished metal, centred on the sacred syllable Om and the Panchakshara mantra, flanked by the trishul and damru, the two emblems most closely associated with Shiva's cosmic presence. At just 0.55 inches (approximately 1.4 cm) in height, the pendant is deliberately intimate, its motifs incised and raised in the manner of small votive metalwork that has long travelled through the pilgrimage towns of northern and central India. A red and yellow twisted thread cord, measuring 13 inches (approximately 33 cm) in length, carries the pendant against the body. That thread is not incidental; it places this piece firmly in the tradition of the rakhi, a form at once protective and affectionate, worn as a constant reminder of blessing. Wear it as a collar-length talisman over a white kurta on a Monday fast, or knot it close at the throat beneath a cotton saree blouse on Mahashivratri, where its quietness reads as intent rather than ornament. The piece weighs 2.5 grams and is offered in a single free size, the thread cord adapting easily to most necklines. The metal carries a bright finish that holds well with careful wear. A piece this light asks very little and returns, each morning, the steadiness of a mantra already known by heart.
