There is a quietness to brass that gold cannot always afford. This necklace set belongs to a tradition of oxidised brass work that has long served as the everyday vocabulary of Indian adornment, worn closest to the skin precisely because it carries no pretence. The pendant sits at approximately five inches in length (12.7 cm), suspended on an adjustable dori that allows the wearer to set the drop exactly where she wishes. The earrings are compact and considered: 1.25 inches (3.2 cm) in height and just 0.3 inches (0.8 cm) in width, shaped to frame rather than overwhelm. The brass itself, weighing a substantial 65 grams across the set, is worked into forms that recall the craft vocabulary of Rajasthani tribal jewellery, where geometric repetition and bold silhouette matter more than stone and shine.
