Description

There is a quietness to brass that gold cannot always claim. This necklace set belongs to a lineage of temple-inspired jewellery, the kind that once adorned the devadasis of Nagercoil and the processional floats of Bengal. Cast and finished in brass, the pendant rises to a generous five inches, its central motif rendered with the architectural clarity of a deity's crown or a lotus medallion. The pendant itself measures approximately 1.9 centimetres wide and just under two centimetres tall, and the matching earrings, each 3.2 centimetres long and barely 0.8 centimetres wide, repeat the same vertical grammar in miniature. The whole set weighs 34 grams, substantial enough to feel considered on the body without pulling at the neck. The brass carries an antique finish, warm and oxidised, speaking of age without imitation. Wear it over a raw silk kurta in ochre or forest green for a cultural evening, where its temple resonance will read as intentional rather than incidental. It is equally at home against the ivory of a Kanjeevaram border at a mehendi, grounding florals with something older. The chain adjusts freely, accommodating a range of necklines without alteration.
