Description

There are pieces that do not arrive so much as announce themselves. This brass necklace set carries the warm, burnished presence of a tradition that has long understood gold as a feeling rather than a metal. Cast and finished in brass, the set draws on the vocabulary of antique Indian jewellery, where weight, patina and volume do the quiet work that precious metal might elsewhere. The forms are architectural: broad, layered and set with coloured stones in closed bezels that recall the uncut-gem sensibility of old Rajasthani workshop practice, where Jaipur karigars once filled every surface with colour before they worried about surface itself. The brass base, worked to a warm amber finish, lends the piece an heirloom quality that polished gold sometimes loses. A matching set, it arrives with pendant, chain and earrings scaled to move together. Wear this with a deep-toned silk tissue saree at a winter wedding reception, or pair it against the ivory of a cream chanderi kurta at a mehendi afternoon, where its warmth will read as considered rather than opulent. Either context rewards the restraint of keeping all other jewellery aside. The set is free size, as the chain length accommodates most necklines without adjustment. The brass finish is sealed against tarnish for everyday wear, though perfume and moisture are best kept clear of the surface. Priced at Rs 21,995, it offers genuine craft in a metal that has always known its own worth.
