Description

There are afternoons when light does not merely fall on a stone but seems to live inside it. These dangle earrings are wrought in sterling silver, a metal prized in India's craft traditions for its cool, fluid quality and its willingness to hold unusual forms without overpowering them. At the heart of each drop sits a faceted natural citrine, its warm amber-gold tones recalling the honey-lit skies of a Rajasthani dusk. Beneath it, a cluster of purple druzy geode surface catches light across hundreds of tiny crystalline points, producing a depth that polished stones rarely achieve. The druzy, with its raw, geological character, speaks to a growing sensibility among Indian jewellery lovers who value the unmediated beauty of the earth. The pairing of warm citrine and cool violet druzy is considered and unhurried, the two stones anchored in a silver setting that lets their colour do the speaking. Each earring measures approximately five centimetres in height and one and a half centimetres in width (2 inches by 0.65 inches), with a combined weight of thirty-one grams, giving the pair a satisfying, present feel on the lobe. Wear these with a silk georgette kurta in ivory or tobacco for a literary evening out, or let them punctuate a draped linen sari at a gallery opening where understatement is its own statement. The standard fit suits all ears. The sterling silver is finished to resist everyday tarnish, and the drop length sits gracefully clear of the shoulder without any sense of excess.
