Description

Nandi waits at every threshold, patient and eternal, and here he arrives at your lapel. Cast in warm, weighty brass, this pin renders Nandi Maharaj in a form that owes its spirit to the votive sculpture traditions of South India, where the sacred bull of Shiva has been fashioned in metal for centuries, from the Chola bronzes of Tamil Nadu to the devotional brasswork of Nagercoil. The silhouette is upright and assured, standing 3.25 inches (approximately 8.25 cm) tall and 1.35 inches (approximately 3.4 cm) wide, with the heft of 14 grams giving it a presence that speaks clearly against cloth. The brass carries the warmth of aged metal, its surface catching light in the way only hand-finished work does, without the cold brightness of plated imitations. There are no stones set here; the craft speaks entirely through form, proportion and the integrity of the cast. Wear it pinned to the lapel of a raw silk achkan for a classical music evening, or pressed into the placket of a crisp ivory kurta at a puja gathering where restraint reads as reverence. It moves equally well on a linen blazer in a museum corridor. The pin closure at the reverse is standard and secure, holding the piece flat against fabric without slipping. Free size by nature, it requires no adjustment. Brass of this gauge resists bending with daily wear, and a light buffing with a soft cloth keeps its warmth alive season after season.
