Description

The peacock has always known how to carry colour without apology. Rooted in the folk-jewellery traditions of Rajasthan, where brass is worked with the same devotion given to gold, this pendant and earrings set brings the mor motif to life in a riot of multicolour enamel. The peacock form, a recurring emblem in temple and festive jewellery across Jaipur and Bikaner, is rendered here with feathers fanned wide and set with hand-applied colour, each hue sitting within a defined border in the manner of Meenakari work. Tiny pearl drops hang from the pendant and earrings both, adding a soft, luminous cadence to the composition. The pendant measures approximately eight centimetres in height by four and a half centimetres in width (3.15 x 1.7 inches), and the earrings a neat three and a half centimetres by just under one and a half (1.4 x 0.55 inches). The complete set weighs twenty-three grams, light enough for a full evening without fatigue. Wear the set with a deep teal or ivory chanderi kurta for a festive lunch, letting the peacock colours speak against plain silk. For a wedding gathering, pair it with a Banarasi saree in jewel tones and let the pearl drops catch the candlelight. The brass base is finished to resist tarnish with regular care. Standard fitting earrings suit most wearers without adjustment. A velvet pouch or dry cloth wrap will preserve the enamel between wearings.
