Description

The peacock has always known how to carry colour. These jhumka danglers are shaped around one of Indian jewellery's most enduring motifs: the mor, rendered here in a festival of multicolour enamel work that recalls the Meenakari tradition of Jaipur, where copper has long served as the favoured base for vibrant, heat-fused pigments. The bird's plumage fans outward across the surface in jewel tones, each hue held within fine partitions of metal, catching light the way the bird itself does in open courtyard sun. A gold-plated finish lays warmth over the copper body, lending the piece the visual weight of something more precious. Below the peacock body, the jhumka bell drops in a clean hemisphere, its gentle silhouette following the classic form favoured across Rajasthan and Bengal alike. At roughly six centimetres in height and two and a half centimetres in width, with a total weight of twenty-one grams, these earrings have presence without being overbearing. Pair them with a deep teal or ivory chanderi kurta for a festive afternoon gathering, where the multicolour plumage will read beautifully against solid fabric. For a wedding reception, they work equally well alongside a silk saree in jewel tones, letting the peacock motif echo the embroidery without competing with it. The standard fit suits most ears comfortably. The gold-plated copper construction keeps the earrings lightweight enough for several hours of wear, and the finish holds well when kept away from moisture and perfume.
