Description

There is a particular kind of wrist adornment that does not ask for attention so much as quietly command it. This openable bangle draws on the Kundan tradition that Jaipur's karigar families have practised for generations, in which stones are set into a base using refined lac and fine foil so that each gem appears to float within its bezel. Here, nine stones in the navratna palette, spanning deep red, vivid green, cool blue, warm yellow and luminous white, are laid across a broad brass cuff finished to a warm gilt. The setting follows a flat, architectural band, the stones arranged in a ceremonial row that echoes the nine-planet iconography found in Mughal and Rajput court jewellery alike. The openable hinge at the back is a considered detail, making the piece accessible where rigid bangles are not. Wear this bracelet against the deep silk of a Kanjeevaram for a festive evening, the stone row reading as a condensed gemstone parure at the wrist. It is equally persuasive alongside ivory or ivory-toned kurta sets, where the gilded brass and multicolour stones do all the decorative work. The cuff sits to an inner diameter of approximately 3.94 cm, a height of roughly 2.54 cm, and a width of about 6.22 cm, with a finished weight of 16 grams, substantial enough to feel present yet light enough for several hours of wear. The openable closure ensures a clean fit on most wrists without adjustment.
