Description

There is something unhurried about a necklace that lets colour do the talking. Strung across a trio of braided cords in contrasting hues, this piece takes its rhythm from the folk jewellery traditions of Rajasthan, where bold pigment and simple metalwork have long lived comfortably together. The dangling cones are cast in brass, a metal beloved by artisans across Jaipur and Bikaner for its warm, antique-adjacent glow and its willingness to hold hand-applied finishes without complaint. Each cone tapers to a clean point, the silhouette recalling the ghungroo-like terminals found on vintage tribal adornments. The multicoloured cord itself, braided in tones that sit somewhere between festival and everyday, provides the foundation: tactile, lightweight, and entirely unpretentious. At a settled weight of 56.8 grams, the piece rests with quiet presence rather than burden. Wear it against a white cotton kurta for an afternoon errand that refuses to be ordinary, or layer it over a block-printed cotton dress at a casual gallery opening. The brass cones catch available light without demanding attention, which makes it generous company for both restrained and printed dressing. The necklace sits at 18 inches, approximately 45.7 centimetres, a length that falls just below the collarbone on most frames and suits a free, one-size fit. The cord closure keeps things practical for daily wear, and brass at this weight needs only occasional wiping to maintain its character.
