Description

A choker that speaks before you do. This multicolour choker necklace set draws from the festive vocabulary of North Indian costume jewellery, where alloy bases are treated with the same reverence once reserved for gold. The necklace, rising nearly two centimetres (1.8 inches) in height, is composed of a close-set choker band densely worked with foiled stones in the manner of Kundan-inspired settings, each colour, deep ruby red, emerald green, cobalt blue and warm ivory, arranged to mimic the layered palette of traditional Jaipur meenakari pieces. The matching earrings, measuring a generous 5.7 centimetres by 2.5 centimetres (2.25 inches by 1 inch), repeat the motif at the ear with the same chromatic confidence. At 120 grams for the complete set, the weight is present and purposeful, lending the jewellery a substantive drape that lightweight fashion pieces rarely achieve. Wear this set with a richly embroidered Banarasi silk sari for a wedding reception, where the choker's boldness holds its own beside heavy weaves. It is equally arresting over a deep-toned velvet anarkali, the jewellery's colour range finding an echo in the fabric's sheen.
