Description

Colour, caught mid-conversation between stone and silver. Tourmalines have long been the gemstone of paradox: a single crystal family that travels through watermelon pinks, ocean greens, tawny golds and ink-edged blues, all within one setting. Here, a curated cluster of multi-colour tourmaline cabochons or faceted cuts is set into sterling silver, the metal oxidised or polished to keep the stones as the clear protagonists. The silhouette is compact and considered, measuring just under two centimetres in height (approximately 1.8 cm, or 0.7 inch) and barely half a centimetre wide (0.25 inch, roughly 0.6 cm), with a total pair weight of 4.47 grams that registers as pleasantly present on the ear without fatigue. The designer framing draws from a sensibility close to Jaipur's silver atelier tradition, where lightweight settings are crafted to let coloured stones breathe rather than compete with ornate metalwork. Worn against a hand-block-printed cotton kurta in ivory or turmeric, the tourmaline palette speaks quietly and beautifully. For an evening occasion, they complement a silk sari in a neutral tone, the variegated stones providing all the chromatic interest a subdued drape requires. These earrings arrive in a free-size design, meaning the stud or drop closure, standard for this silhouette, suits most ear placements without adjustment. Sterling silver asks only for occasional gentle polishing to maintain its natural brightness. A dependable piece for daily wear and for dressing with intention.
