Description

There are gardens that do not bloom in spring, but in the quiet hour before dusk, when the light turns and green deepens into something close to silence. This bib-style necklace is worked in brass, its broad front panel spanning five inches (approximately 12.7 cm) and falling from a chain that measures twelve inches (approximately 30.5 cm) at the collar. The centrepiece is a layered cascade of moss green stones, set in pronged or bezel-style brass mounts that build the bib outward in tiers, much as a craftsperson from Rajasthan might construct a Kundan-influenced base before laying colour. The green here is neither jade nor emerald but something murkier and earthier, the shade of a rain-fed stepwell, and the brass that frames it carries the warm, slightly antiqued quality that Jaipur's stone-setting ateliers prize for festival and heirloom-adjacent work. At 123 grams, the piece has genuine presence on the body without becoming burdensome. Wear it over a deep-V silk kurta in ivory or rust for a wedding sangeet. It is equally at ease with a linen blazer and wide-legged trousers at a cultural evening or gallery opening, where the green reads as sculptural rather than decorative. The free-size chain accommodates most necklines without adjustment. The brass construction requires only light polishing to retain its lustre and should be stored away from moisture. An assured, unhurried piece for those who dress with intention.
