Description
There are bridal sets that adorn, and there are those that narrate. This Meenakari Kundan necklace set speaks the language of Jaipur's most celebrated ateliers, where brass becomes a canvas for colour. The pendant, a generous 5.4 inches (13.7 cm) tall and 2.5 inches (6.4 cm) wide, is worked in the Jadau tradition: flat-set Kundan stones held within raised gold-toned borders, each compartment filled with fired enamel in the layered, luminous manner of classical Meenakari. Multicolour bead drops fall from the necklace's lower register, their movement catching light the way a court ornament should. The earrings, at 4 inches (10.2 cm) tall, repeat the same stone-and-enamel vocabulary in miniature, while the maang tika at 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) anchors the parure at the centre part. The total weight of the set is 296 grams across all three pieces, substantial enough to feel ceremonial without overwhelming. Brass provides the structural body throughout. Wear this parure with a red or ivory silk Banarasi lehenga for a full bridal ceremony; it translates equally well over a deep-toned Kanjeevaram sari at a sangeet or reception, where the enamel colours read as richly as the zari border beneath them. The necklace closes on an adjustable dori, accommodating different necklines with ease. The brass base has been finished to resist tarnish through moderate wear, and each piece is suited to storage in a fabric-lined box after use.
