Description

There are gardens that exist only in the hands of those who know how to paint with fire. This choker set belongs to the living tradition of Meenakari, the art of fusing powdered glass enamels onto metal through controlled heat, practised with devotion in the ateliers of Jaipur. Here, the base is brass, worked into a wide floral panel that sits close to the throat, its surface alive with petalled blooms rendered in the vivid, saturated colours for which Rajasthani enamellers are celebrated. From the lower edge of the necklace, cascading stone drops fall in graduated tiers, catching light and movement in equal measure. The matched earrings, each measuring roughly ten centimetres in height and just over three centimetres in width, mirror the floral vocabulary of the necklace precisely. The full set weighs two hundred and twenty grams, a presence felt as much as seen. The necklace panel itself stands approximately eleven centimetres in height, making it a statement that needs no further layering. Wear this choker over a raw-silk kurta in ivory for a winter wedding dinner, where the enamel colours will speak against the quiet fabric. It reads equally well over a deep-toned Banarasi blouse at a festive afternoon gathering, where the cascading drops will move with every gesture.
