Description

There is a particular stillness to a well-cut cabochon, the way it holds colour without fracture or flash. These five round tourmaline cabochons arrive as a matched lot, each measuring 21 mm across, offered for the jeweller, the collector, or the discerning buyer who commissions bespoke work. Tourmaline, long prized in Indian jewellery traditions from Jaipur's gem bazaars to the ateliers of Bengal, carries a chromatic range that few stones rival. The cabochon cut, which favours a smooth, domed surface over faceting, is the form preferred for Jadau and Kundan settings, where the stone must sit flush within its gold foil bed and speak in depth rather than brilliance. This lot, totalling 20 grams across five pieces, presents stones whose tones, as pictured, carry that characteristic tourmaline warmth, ranging from soft to saturated. A set such as this lends itself to a commissioned necklace or choker intended for a silk-draped occasion. Paired with a Benarasi tissue sari at a wedding, or set into a pendant necklace worn over a fine Lucknawi kurta at an evening gathering, these stones would hold their own with grace. Because these are unmounted cabochons in free size format, they offer complete flexibility to a trusted karigar. There is no closure to consider, no chain to coordinate; the work begins here, in the stone itself, and the possibilities remain entirely open.
