Description

The sun does not ask permission to be radiant. Lord Surya, the Vedic god of light and sovereignty, has been a devotional motif in Indian metalwork for centuries, appearing on temple doors, processional standards and the jewellery of priests and patrons alike. Here, the deity is rendered in cast brass, his face framed by the distinctive solar corona that marks his celestial identity. The finish carries the warm, burnished tone that brass develops through careful hand-polishing, lending the piece an antique quality without artificial distressing. At 2.9 inches tall and 0.9 inches wide (approximately 7.4 cm by 2.3 cm), the pin has genuine presence without bulk. Weighing just 6 grams, it sits easily on lapel or collar, the pin-back closure securing it flat and firm against fabric. Wear it on a cream or ivory kurta for a festive gathering, where the brass catches candlelight with quiet authority. It reads equally well on a structured blazer lapel at a cultural evening or gallery opening, introducing a note of sacred iconography into contemporary dressing. Free size by nature, the pin-back mechanism suits most lapels, stoles and heavier silks without distorting the weave. The cast brass requires only a soft dry cloth to maintain its glow, and its compact weight means it remains comfortable through long hours of wear without pulling or tilting.
