Description

There are faces one never tires of looking at, and Ganesha's is among the most ancient of them. Cast in brass and finished to a warm, burnished tone, this lapel pin renders the Vighnaharta in confident relief: the broad forehead, the curved trunk turning gently to one side, the suggestion of a crown above. Brass has long been the metal of sacred objects across Indian households, its weight honest and its colour sympathetic to gold without pretending to be it. At 3.7 inches tall (approximately 9.4 cm) and 1.3 inches wide (approximately 3.3 cm), the pin occupies the lapel with a quiet authority rather than a shout, the proportions large enough to read clearly from across a room yet considered enough to sit well on fine fabric. The piece weighs 12 grams, giving the wearer a reassuring sense of substance. No stones, no enamel, no gilding competes here; the craft speaks entirely through form and surface. Pin it to the lapel of a silk bandhgala for a wedding reception, where the brass catches candlelight with an almost antique glow. It works equally well on the breast pocket of a linen kurta at a festive lunch, devotion worn lightly and without ceremony. Free-sized by nature, a lapel pin asks nothing of the wearer except a firm surface to receive it. The standard pin fastening holds securely through most fabrics, making this a reliable companion for occasions that matter.
