Description

There are gardens that exist only in the hands of those who know how to make metal bloom. These earrings are shaped as a long teardrop framed by a leaf, a silhouette that belongs to the older vocabulary of Indian ornament, where botanicals were never decorative afterthoughts but the entire grammar of the piece. The setting is Kundan, a technique practised with particular devotion in Jaipur, where uncut stones or glass are pressed into a bed of refined lac and held in place by fine gold-foil edging folded flush against the surface. Here the method is translated into brass, giving the piece its warm, burnished ground and keeping it accessible without sacrificing the visual depth that Kundan demands. The result reads as both architectural and organic: the leaf outline holds the teardrop drop in a clean geometry, the Kundan inlay catching light across its face. Wear these with a raw-silk kurta in ivory or deep ochre for a literary festival or a curated family lunch. They earn equal ease alongside a cotton jamdani saree draped informally for a festive afternoon. Each earring measures approximately five centimetres in height by just under two centimetres in width, sitting deliberately in the ear rather than overwhelmingly large. At twenty-two grams for the pair, the weight is present but manageable for a full afternoon of wear. The brass base is finished to resist tarnish with everyday handling.
