Description

There is a depth to lapis lazuli that no other stone quite matches: that slow, midnight blue, flecked with gold as though the night sky had been pressed into mineral form. Each bead in this sterling silver necklace carries that ancient weight. Lapis lazuli, prized across civilisations from the courts of Mesopotamia to the ateliers of Mughal India, has long been set in silver rather than gold, because the cool metal honours rather than competes with the stone's saturated hue. Here, the beads are individually strung and finished in sterling silver, their spherical silhouette kept clean and unadorned so that the stone speaks without interruption. Measuring approximately 1.2 cm wide and 1.3 cm in height per piece, and weighing a composed 5 grams, each bead is sold individually, allowing you to build a strand to your own proportion and intention, whether a close-choker row or a long, layered fall. Worn close to the throat, a single-length strand of these beads pairs beautifully with a silk chanderi kurta in ivory or blush. Layered in multiples, they sit well against a structured Benarasi blouse, bringing an unhurried, editorial quality to festive dressing. The sterling silver finish resists tarnish with minimal care. The free-size stringing suits most neck lengths and adapts easily to daily wear, making this an understated but deeply considered piece for those who prefer their jewellery to carry history quietly.
