Description

There are devotions that require no words, only silver. Cast in sterling silver and finished with the quiet authority of South Indian temple craft, this coin pendant carries the paired blessings of Lakshmi and Ganesha at its centre. The circular form, one and a half inches (approximately 3.8 cm) in diameter, follows the tradition of votive medallions long presented at temple sanctuaries in Nagercoil and the Coromandel belt, where silversmiths have rendered the divine in relief for generations. Lakshmi, seated and serene, faces Ganesha across the coin's face, both deities rendered with the fine line-work that distinguishes temple silversmithing from other Indian jewellery traditions. At twenty grams, the pendant carries genuine presence without heaviness, its sterling silver catching light in the restrained, matte-bright manner particular to hand-finished devotional work. Wear it on a fine silver chain against a ivory or blush silk kurta for a festive family gathering; or layer it over a simple white cotton kurta on Diwali morning, where its sacred iconography becomes a quiet personal rite rather than ornament. The coin is offered free size and fits naturally on chains of varying lengths, accommodating both short statement-wear and longer layered arrangements. Sterling silver of this weight wears well through daily use, requiring only an occasional soft cloth polish to restore its surface brightness. A piece that belongs equally to the jewellery box and the prayer shelf.
