Description

Lace frozen in silver, light enough to forget you are wearing it. The motif here is drawn from the vocabulary of delicate pierced lacework: fine filigree-like openwork set within a slender drop frame that measures just 1.3 inches in height by 0.5 inches in width (approximately 3.3 cm by 1.3 cm). Sterling silver, hallmarked for its purity, is the natural home for this kind of intricate negative-space patterning, a tradition that finds its closest cousins in the filigree workshops of Cuttack and the pierced silverwork of Karimnagar, where metal is coaxed into something closer to textile than jewellery. The green onyx cabochon sits at the heart of the composition, its cool, watery depth offering a considered contrast to the pale brilliance of the silver surround.
