Description

There are earrings made to be noticed, and there are earrings made to be understood. These studs speak the quieter language of the second kind. Rooted in the Kundan tradition, a discipline of setting unfoiled or foiled stones into a gold-worked base without prongs, they translate that centuries-old Mughal court aesthetic into sterling silver finished with a warm gold tone. The stones sit flush within their bezels, each one encircled by the fine metalwork that defines Kundan-style setting: no claws, no tension, only a continuous rim of refined metal holding the stone in intimate contact with the base. At roughly one centimetre in height and just over one centimetre in width (0.4 inches by 0.5 inches), the silhouette is a compact, gently ornate face, modest in footprint yet detailed enough to reward a close glance. The piece weighs five grams, giving it a satisfying, considered presence on the lobe. Wear them with a fine Banarasi or a handwoven chanderi kurta at a daytime puja or a festive lunch where restraint is its own kind of statement. They sit equally well against the collar of a silk shirt for an evening gathering where one piece of considered jewellery is all the occasion asks. Sterling silver at the core keeps the structure stable and gentle on most ears. The gold tone finish sits consistently across the setting. The standard push-back closure holds securely through a full day without adjustment or thought.
