Description

There is a particular kind of grandeur that belongs only to Rajasthan, and these earrings carry it all the way to the ear. Worked in brass and finished to a warm gold tone, each piece is built around the chandelier silhouette that Jaipur's karigars have long perfected: a broad, flat-set Kundan panel at the crown, its unfoiled glass stones pressed into wax and surrounded by a fine border, catching light the way a haveli window catches afternoon sun. Below that crown, the piece opens into a cascading structure of bead drops and freshwater pearls, their pale lustre softening the weight of the metalwork above. At nearly ten centimetres tall and just over four centimetres wide, and weighing fifty-three grams, these are earrings that announce themselves. The length, the layering, the interplay of opaque Kundan stone and translucent pearl together speak of the festive jewellery tradition that Bikaner and Jaipur have refined over generations. Wear them with a tissue silk sari for a winter wedding, where the drop will graze the jaw and catch every diya in the room. They are equally strong against a deep-toned anarkali for a sangeet, framed by open, simply dressed hair. Because the piece is set in brass rather than precious metal, the weight is honest and the price is accessible without sacrificing the visual authority of the form. The fit is universal, suited to any ear, and the construction is robust enough to carry an evening through comfortably.
