Description

There is a particular stillness to Kundan work, the way light is coaxed rather than commanded. This necklace set belongs to a tradition refined over centuries in the ateliers of Jaipur, where brass is worked into a foundation sturdy enough to hold unfoiled Kundan stones in their individual gold-foil-lined cells. Each stone is pressed into place by hand, a patient art of seat-cutting and setting that leaves no claw visible and no seam untidy. The stones catch the light with that distinctive flat luminosity that paste or prong-set work cannot replicate. The brass base lends the set a pleasing weight and warmth, finished to complement rather than compete with the setting above it. The matching earrings mirror the necklace in their detailing, creating a coherent, unhurried conversation between the two pieces across the neckline. Together they weigh one hundred and nine grams, a presence on the body that registers without burdening.
