Description

There is a particular generosity to a jhumka that swings. This one begins with a domed brass top set in the Kundan tradition, where flat-cut stones are pressed into a malleable wax bed and held by fine gold-toned foil, so each facet catches light as a still pool catches afternoon sun. The dome descends into the characteristic bell of the jhumka form, its surface busy with Kundan-set stones, before releasing a cascade of bead drops that sway with every movement. The technique is rooted in the workshops of Rajasthan, where generations of karigars have understood that weight and swing are not incidental but essential to the jewel's character. Available in three colourways, pink, red and white, each variant shifts the mood from festive warmth to cool ceremony without altering the underlying form. The earring measures approximately 4.7 cm in height and 2 cm in width, weighing 30 grams, a presence that is felt without being heavy. Pair the red with a Banarasi silk in ivory or a deep maroon lehenga at a sangeet, and the stones hold their own against brocade. The white Kundan variant sits beautifully against the soft drape of an organza saree at a formal daytime occasion. The free-size fitting accommodates a standard ear post. Brass as a base metal gives the foil setting structural stability and wears well with minimal care, making these jhumkas as practical for a mehendi afternoon as for a curated festive wardrobe.
