Description
There is a particular grammar to bridal adornment that the hath phool understands instinctively. This piece belongs to the Rajasthani Kundan tradition, where flat-set, glass-paste stones are pressed into a base of brass and finished to hold the light with a cold, almost wintry luminosity. The hath phool, sometimes called a hath panja, is a hand ornament of distinctive architectural logic: a bracelet cuff that trails finger rings across the back of the hand via fine chains, turning the hand itself into the jewellery. Here, Kundan stones are studded across the cuff and ring settings in close formation, each stone bedded individually in the manner that Jaipur workshops have refined over centuries of working to royal patronage. The brass base gives the piece a warm underlying tone and keeps the weight honest at sixty grams, light enough to be worn through a long occasion without fatigue. Pair it over a deep-toned silk dupatta ensemble at a mehendi or engagement ceremony, where it will read against henna-stained skin with particular intimacy. It works equally well with a contemporary ivory organza lehenga, where its cool Kundan glitter and brass warmth provide the sole ornamental statement. The ornament spans six and a quarter inches in length (approximately fifteen point nine centimetres), with a ring width of zero point eight inches (roughly two centimetres), and is offered in a free size. The brass construction is durable and resistant to daily handling, making it a reliable choice for multi-day celebrations.
