Description
There are processions that never quite leave you, and this necklace carries one forward. Worked in brass and set with flat-cut Kundan stones, the centrepiece is a pair of elephants rendered in the classic north Indian decorative idiom, their forms dense with inlay and outlined by the fine wax-and-foil technique that Jaipur's Kundan karigars have refined across generations. Each stone sits pressed into a gold-toned setting, the light catching its surface with the cool, even glow that distinguishes Kundan from any cast or machine-set alternative. Below the main pendant, a row of ghungroos, those small spherical bells drawn from classical dance and bridal tradition, hang in a single tier, lending the necklace both movement and a gentle ceremonial weight. The piece measures approximately six point eight centimetres in height and weighs one hundred grammes, a presence that is substantial without being cumbersome. The matching earrings, each six point four centimetres tall and two point five centimetres wide, echo the elephant motif and carry the same ghungroo drop. Wear this with a deep-toned silk kurta or an embroidered Chanderi dupatta for a festive luncheon; it reads equally well against the structured neckline of a Banarasi blouse at a sangeet or a formal evening gathering. The brass base keeps the set light enough for several hours of wear. The free-size necklace fastens with a standard hook closure and requires no alteration. The colourway is as pictured, rich and consistent in its warm, antique-touched tone.
