Description

There are bridal ornaments that arrive already carrying the memory of a ceremony. This Kundan-set choker and earrings set belongs to the North Indian bridal vocabulary that Jaipur's goldsmiths have refined across centuries, translated here into brass with the honesty of a craft that has always prized surface over substance. The choker, measuring approximately 6.9 cm in height and 15.2 cm in width, is built on a structured base and encrusted with flat-foiled Kundan stones, each one pressed and sealed by hand into its cell of polished metal, catching light the way coloured glass in a haveli window does: flatly, beautifully, without apology. The earrings, at roughly 3.3 cm square, repeat the motif in miniature, their proportions considered rather than incidental. The entire set weighs 177 grams, a presence that settles on the collarbone with genuine intention. Wear the choker against the deep silk of a Banarasi bridal lehenga, where its structured width fills the neckline with authority. It reads equally well atop a heritage Kanjeevaram for a south-meets-north wedding reception, the Kundan cold-gleam sitting beautifully against handwoven gold zari.
