Description

There are courts that live on in jewellery, and this set carries one of them quietly forward. Worked in brass with the flat-set precision of Kundan tradition, the necklace spreads across six and a half inches (approximately 16.5 cm) of width and four inches (approximately 10 cm) of length, its polished frame holding foiled stones in that characteristic Rajasthani manner where light is trapped rather than reflected. The green beaded drops that fall from the lower tier bring the palette of a monsoon garden into the composition, each bead moving with the wearer rather than resting against her. The earrings, three and a half inches tall and one and a half inches wide (approximately 8.9 cm by 3.8 cm), repeat the same vocabulary of set stone and hanging bead, and the maang tikka, measuring four and a half inches by one and a half inches (approximately 11.4 cm by 3.8 cm), descends the centre parting with measured formality. The complete set weighs 248 grams, a presence felt honestly on the body. Worn over a silk tissue saree in ivory or champagne, this set provides all the ornamentation an evening wedding requires without competition.
