Description

There are jhumkas that jingle, and then there are jhumkas that hold their silence like a kept secret. This pair belongs to the Kundan tradition, that centuries-old Rajput court practice of pressing uncut glass and polished stones into a bed of lac set within fine gold foil, here interpreted in brass with the same architectural patience. The domed upper cup is encrusted with flat-set Kundan panels, each stone held flush by delicate foiled bezels, while teardrop-shaped accent stones hang from the lower bell, catching light at every turn of the head. Available in a deep emerald green and a warm ruby red, each colourway shifts the character of the piece entirely: the green reads as Mughal garden, the ruby as a Rajasthani bridal alcove. At 2.75 inches (approximately 7 cm) in height and 1.50 inches (approximately 3.8 cm) in width, with a weight of 34 grams, these are earrings with genuine physical presence, designed to be seen. Wear the green with a moss-coloured silk kurta and a Benarasi dupatta for a festive afternoon gathering. The ruby colourway pairs beautifully with ivory or cream chanderi for a wedding reception, where the warm brass base glows against candlelight. Both sizes follow a standard fitting, designed to suit most ears comfortably. The brass base is sturdy without being rigid, and the Kundan setting, sealed within its foiled frame, resists daily wear with quiet durability.
