Description

There is a particular stillness to Kundan work, as though time has agreed to pause inside the stone. These earrings are set in the classical Kundan tradition, where highly refined gold foil is pressed around each stone to hold it without prong or claw, creating a smooth, continuous surface of light. Here, that technique is interpreted in brass, a metal long favoured by craftsmen in Rajasthan for its warm, burnished tone and its willingness to take on elaborate surface work. The stones sit flush within their cells, each one caught at its brightest angle, surrounded by the characteristic flat-set border that gives Kundan jewellery its unmistakable, almost architectural geometry. The overall silhouette is formal and symmetrical, shaped in the layered, pendant-drop proportion that has framed Indian faces at celebrations for centuries. The colour is rich gold in tone, unplated and honest. One size fits all, as the piece closes with a standard post or hook fitting. For a festive evening, pair these with a dark silk saree in bottle green or burgundy, letting the earrings carry the occasion without competition. They settle equally well against the embroidered collar of a kurta at a daytime mehendi or an intimate family gathering. Because the base is brass rather than precious metal, the earrings are lightweight and comfortable across several hours of wear. The Kundan setting, once fixed, is stable. Keep them away from moisture and store flat to preserve the foil's integrity.
