Description

There are earrings that do not merely adorn; they carry an entire court within them. Kundan, at its most essential, is the art of embedding stones or glass within a lattice of refined metal foil, pressing each piece into place by hand so that no setting looks mechanical, no surface feels cold. These earrings follow that ancient language, worked in brass that has been finished to hold its warm, gilt tone without the heaviness of solid gold. The front face is composed in the classic flat-set Kundan manner, where polished coloured stones are cushioned within raised metal cells, each held by the patient pressure of a karigar trained in the Rajasthani tradition where Kundan work reached its most elaborate flowering. The reverse is finished cleanly, and the earrings close with a standard post-and-back fastening that sits discreetly behind the ear. Wear them to a daytime wedding ceremony paired with a tissue silk saree in ivory or powder rose, where the warm brass ground will pick up the sheen of the fabric. They are equally at home pinned against the ears above a structured anarkali for an evening mehendi, anchoring the look without competing with heavier neckwear. Available as pictured, in free size, these are priced at Rs 7,995. Brass construction keeps the earrings noticeably lighter than equivalent pieces in silver or gold, making them practical for a full day of celebration without any sense of strain at the lobe.
