Description

There is a particular stillness to Kundan work, as though the stone and the setting have always belonged to each other. These earrings are composed in the classical Kundan tradition, wherein carefully shaped glass or semi-precious stones are nestled into a pure gold foil bed and held in place by refined layers of pressed metal rather than prong or bezel. The setting technique originates in the royal ateliers of Rajasthan, refined over generations in Jaipur, where the relationship between light and stone was treated as an art in itself. Here, the base is brass, polished to carry the warmth of a gold-like finish without pretence, the metal chosen for its weight and its ability to hold the Kundan inlay with quiet precision. The stones sit flush, glowing against the surrounding metalwork in a composition that reads as both geometric and organic, formal and alive. Wear them with a tissue silk saree at a festive luncheon, where their contained brilliance will hold without competing with elaborate weave. Equally, they settle beautifully against the neckline of a deep-toned anarkali at a mehendi or sangeet, the warm brass ground echoing the candlelight around you. These earrings are offered as free size, meaning the closure and drop are designed to suit most ear types without adjustment. The brass construction gives them a reassuring solidity in hand while keeping daily wear comfortable. At Rs 10,495, they represent considered access to a living craft tradition.
