Description

A cluster of light, caught and suspended. Kundan work belongs to the ateliers of Rajasthan, where goldsmiths learned centuries ago to press uncut stones flat against a bed of lac and frame them in foiled gold cells so that each surface becomes a mirror for lamplight. Here, that same discipline is rendered in worked brass, the base metal burnished and treated so that the Kundan setting holds its geometry without apology. A field of white Kundan stones anchors the upper piece, disciplined and still, while below it a bunch of freshwater pearls gathers like a soft ellipsis before dissolving into slender glass bead dangles in deep purple, the colour moving as the wearer moves. The earring measures approximately 7 cm in height and 3 cm in width, and weighs 30 grams, a presence that is felt without being burdensome. Wear them with an ivory chanderi kurta and raw-silk dupatta for a festive luncheon where restraint reads as confidence. They are equally at home paired with a deep wine tissue-silk saree for a wedding reception, the purple glass catching the candle glow across the room. The purple-and-white colourway is offered in a free size, the post or hook closure designed to suit most ear types without adjustment. Brass, when well finished, resists everyday knocks better than many assume, and the lacquer over the Kundan cells keeps the stones seated firmly through an evening's wear.
