Description
The chand, the moon, has always known how to hold light. This Chandbali earring is built in the Kundan tradition, where a brass base is worked into a crescent silhouette and flat-cut glass stones are set in polished foil beds, pressed flush by fine gold-tinted borders. The craft owes its grammar to Jaipur, where Kundan setting has been practised across generations of karigar families who understand that the tension between a rigid frame and a trembling drop is precisely what gives the jewel its life. Here, that drop is a strand of pearl and bead work, swaying below the crescent in a cascade that measures 3.25 inches (approximately 8.3 cm) from top to lowest bead, with a width of 1.50 inches (approximately 3.8 cm) at the broadest point of the chand. The piece is offered in two colourways, green and red, each shifting the mood entirely. At 50 grams, the weight is present and intentional, designed to be felt. Wear the red colourway against a silk Banarasi or a velvet lehenga on a wedding evening; the green pairs beautifully with a Kanjivaram in peacock tones or a tissue silk anarkali at a daytime mehendi. The earrings are free size, sized to suit standard piercings without adjustment. Brass construction keeps the base firm and resistant to bending. Store flat, away from moisture, and the foil-set stones will hold their brilliance through many seasons of wearing.
