Description

There are looms in Odisha that remember older vocabularies of beauty. Sambalpuri fabric, woven on handlooms in the Sambalpur region of western Odisha, carries within its threads the ikat tradition: resist-dyed yarns arranged before weaving so that the pattern emerges as if from within the cloth itself. This necklace set takes that storied textile and gives it architectural form, mounting the fabric over MDF to create structured pendants with clean edges and a warm, handmade density. Dangling shell elements at the neckpiece's front extend the piece downward, adding movement to what is otherwise a composed, geometric silhouette. The earrings echo the same fabric and construction, measuring 1.8 inches (approximately 4.6 cm) in height and 1.3 inches (approximately 3.3 cm) in width. The necklace sits at a total length of 16.5 inches (approximately 42 cm) including the adjustable extension, with a front drop of 7.2 inches (approximately 18.3 cm). The full set weighs just 40 grams. Three colours are offered: a deep black, a rich maroon, and a vivid red. Wear the red against a white cotton kurta for a day of gallery-going or a craft fair; the maroon pairs instinctively with a Chanderi silk saree for an evening gathering that calls for handloom speaking to handloom.
