Description

A hand flower in brass, worn where the wrist meets the palm, as though the jewellery itself is in bloom. The haath phool is one of the oldest forms of hand adornment in the subcontinent, a single ornament that bridges bracelet and ring, draping the back of the hand with a floriated centrepiece connected by delicate chains to finger rings. This piece is crafted in brass, a metal long favoured by artisans in Rajasthan and Bengal for its warm, golden resonance and its willingness to hold fine surface work. The finish here reads as antique gold in tone, giving the central floral motif a depth that catches light without ostentation. At 36 grams, the piece carries noticeable presence without feeling heavy against the skin, and the free-size construction, with its adjustable chains and flexible ring loops, accommodates a broad range of hand proportions. Worn over a cream or ivory chikankari kurta for a mehendi or sangeet, it becomes the sole ornament the occasion requires. Equally, layered over the sleeve of a silk anarkali at a wedding reception, it holds its own as an anchor piece alongside understated gold ear drops. The free-size fit makes the haath phool genuinely versatile across hand sizes. Brass, while not precious metal, rewards gentle handling: keep it away from prolonged moisture and store it wrapped in soft cloth to preserve the warm tonal finish through years of wear.
