Description

There are bridal mornings that deserve their own grammar, and this is one of them. Worked in brass and set in the Kundan tradition, this choker draws on the same vocabulary of flat-foiled settings and close-fitted green stones that the ateliers of Jaipur have perfected across centuries. The central panel is wide and architectural, spanning six and a quarter inches (roughly 15.9 cm) across the collarbone, while the choker itself measures four and three-quarter inches (approximately 12 cm) in length, worn close to the throat and secured with an adjustable dori. Every green stone sits pressed into its gold-toned Kundan bezel without a prong in sight, the foil beneath it amplifying the colour into something closer to ceremony than jewellery. The matching earrings, four inches (about 10.2 cm) tall, continue the same panelled geometry, and the maang tikka, measuring six and three-quarter inches (approximately 17.2 cm) in length, draws a clean vertical line from the centre parting downward. The full set weighs four hundred and twenty-five grams, which is to say it carries presence. For a red or ivory silk Banarasi lehenga, this set speaks in its own register. Against deep bottle-green or midnight-blue tissue silk, the stones dissolve into the fabric and the gold framework takes over entirely. The dori closure allows the choker to sit precisely at the hollow of the throat regardless of neck size. Brass holds its finish well and rewards careful storage in a fabric-lined box away from moisture.
