Description

Jaipur's courtly imagination, distilled into a single drop of green. At two and a half inches long and one inch wide (approximately 6.4 cm by 2.5 cm), these earrings carry the unhurried logic of the bazaars of Walled City Jaipur, where meenakari and polki have coexisted for centuries on the same surface. The base is brass, worked and lacquered so that uncut polki-style stones sit within a foiled setting, catching light without the cold glare of faceted cuts. Around each stone, fine meenakari enamel lays in its characteristic opaque greens, the colour built up in layers and fired to a depth that no printed finish can replicate. A teardrop dangler hangs from the lower register, extending the silhouette into something that moves when the wearer moves. At twenty-four grams the pair has a perceptible, pleasing weight, a reminder that this is real craft work and not a stamped approximation. Wear these with a silk chanderi kurta in ivory or ochre, where the saturated green becomes the only necessary ornament. They are equally at ease with a raw-silk anarkali for a mehendi or a sangeet, grounding a festive look without competing with it. The free-size post and hook closure makes them suitable for most piercings without adjustment. The brass base is treated for colour stability, and the enamel surface is best kept away from moisture and perfume to preserve its vibrancy over time.
