Description

Rajasthan carries its colour in these earrings the way a garden carries summer. The jhumka is one of the oldest silhouettes in the Indian jewellery lexicon, and here it arrives dressed in the vivid language of Meenakari, the art of fusing powdered enamel into engraved metal that Jaipur's karigars have refined over centuries. The base is brass, worked into the classic dome-and-bell form, its surface laid with a deep, saturated green enamel that holds light with a quiet intensity. Floral motifs, the signature grammar of Meenakari work, spread across the dome in the manner of a garden rendered in fire and colour. Below the bell, pearl drops hang freely, softening the weight of the green with their cool, ivory luminescence. The earrings measure approximately 9.6 cm in height and 3.3 cm in width, giving them a generous, statement-making presence without crossing into excess. Pair these with a jade-green or ivory chanderi kurta for a festive afternoon, where the earrings carry the colour so the outfit need not. They are equally at home against the deep tones of a silk Banarasi saree at a wedding, where the pearl drops catch candlelight beautifully. The free-size hook closure suits most ear piercings comfortably. Brass, properly cared for and kept away from moisture, holds its finish well over time. These earrings travel easily from occasion to occasion, offering genuine craft at an everyday price.
